How to use this reader.
Supplemental reading – classroom and or home study
The reader can be used for supplemental reading or the reader can be used for FVR (free voluntary reading – coined by Krashen).
Some teachers read the stories in class, discuss the stories, and then the students act out portions of the story. Questions at the end of the stories can be discussed and answered in class or given as homework.
I use the TPRS method of language teaching in my classroom. I teach the target vocabulary sequentially from story 1 to story 41. After the students have learned each new set of target vocabulary words/phrases in TPRS-based lessons, the students read the corresponding story. Most stories are read in class, but occasionally stories are assigned as homework. Sometimes the questions at the end of the story are discussed and answered in class and sometimes they are assigned as homework.
